The Wright Venue - Dublin's newest joint!!!

When you hear of someone pumping €38mill into a state of the art entertainment venue in these recessionary times you tend to sit up and take notice. Well that's precisely what the Wright Group have done with the launch of their 'so hip it hurts' nightclub venture 'The Wright Venue' in Airside's South Quarter near Swords.

The Wright Venue redefines nightclubbing in Dublin and drags it kicking and screaming into the future. This place is off the chart, off the chain, off the hook. And how do I know?
Well by entering a competition through their Facebook page and sending a simple mail I struck it lucky and got the call to attend a sneak preview of the venue last Monday.

After a mad dash across town after work on Monday evening to meet up with Gaeil and the other 18 lucky contestants in Wrights Cafe Bar in Swords we got introduced to each other even if it was a bit first day in school!!! A sumptuous supper and drinks were laid on as we kicked back and listened to Gaeil and Gerard describe what lay ahead of us. And while they painted a pretty picture of the venue, seeing as they say is believing.

We made our way out to the venue and the first thing that hits you as you arrive is the sheer scale of the place from the outside. It's fooking massive!!!! Once inside there's a space age reception to greet guests where the main red lit stairs lead you up to the main nightclub while discreet lifts that operate on smart cards whisk you to other glamorous and mysterious areas within the venue. Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory eat your heart out!!!!

We took the stairs two and three steps at a time to follow the throbbing dance basslines and entered the main arena and it was AMAZING!!! A decadent red and black area incorporating sunken dancefloor with adjoining booths, two full length bars either side, a massive DJ booth with one of the DJ's mates really getting into the groove(!). And that was only at eye level. Raise the peepers and you see layered velvet curtains, a giant disco ball about the size of Louth and what can only be described as a load of leather clad legs hanging out of an orgy (see below). Crazy shit altogether.

We then made our way up to the Backstage Bar which despite the name does not require an Access All Areas pass. A bit more chilled out and exclusive, this is a great little spot to drop those well versed one liners on the girl (or boy!) you've just met on the dancefloor. If you want to treat her (or him!) in style, get thee to one of the WV Cities private suites that run the length of the club.

These are the jewels in the crown of the nightspot. 4 suites named after the 4 trendiest cities in the USA - New York, Miami, Las Vegas and LA. Rumours have it Oklahoma just missed the cut. Within the suite it's proper playboy behaviour. Flatscreens, Sky TV, Wi-Fi, karaoke, your own music selection, games consoles, comfy couches and a Smeg fridge stuffed full of your favourite drinks all the while looking out over the dancefloor through the floor to ceiling windows.

But while you can kick back and relax here, after a while you should really jog on down the corridor and you're into the Purple Room which is a quality live venue where you can kick back and appreciate stand up, burlesque shows and mini gigs. Turn round the corner and you'll be admiring the dancers who will be strutting their stuff on platforms overlooking the dancefloor.

However there was still another level to go and this is where the opulence really kicks in. On the third floor over looking the whole venue is the capo di cappi - the Scarface suite. Snow white carpet, room for 25 people, more fridges full of drinks and feeling like you're the biggest and baddest mofo in the place. The suite also has a private lift to ensure direct club entrance to suite access without being bothered.

There is even more luxury in the nearby Penthouse bar. A rooftop bar all decked out in white - this exclusive joint will force you to drink exotic named cocktails and and open a shirt button or two.

And just outside the bar we have the terrace where if we keep getting a great Irish summer will rival Space's terrace in Ibiza including overhead planes!!!!

Space Ibiza

So folks that was it and it really blew the senses. We retired to the nightclub downstairs to reflect on what we had just seen and experienced with a free bar and be looked after by the attractive hostesses.
The Dublin northside has been crying out for a classy venue such as this and the Wright Venue really delivers on their word. This Friday is the opening night and I'll be there tearing it up and I strongly suggest you do the same.

Get. On. It.

PS Please post some comments on the above!!!
